‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Kevin McKidd Is Thor – God of Thunder In MCU’s Early Concept Art

Newly released early concept art for Thor from Charlie Wen, the co-founder of Marvel Studio’s Visual Development, reveals “Grey’s Anatomy” star Kevin McKidd in the role of Thor.
The concept art was the very early images of Thor, done even before Chris Hemsworth was cast, and the pre-production of 2011 movie “Thor” started.
“Thought you might enjoy another very early Thor concept done even before preproduction started,” Wen writers on his Twitter account. “I was trying out different actors to based #Thor on since @chrishemsworth didn’t have the role yet at the time. This was based on @therealkmckidd.”
#happysaturday , everyone. Thought you might enjoy another very early Thor concept done even before preproduction started. I was trying out different actors to base #Thor on since @chrishemsworth didn’t have the role yet at the time. This was based on @therealkmckidd .

While it’s hard to imagine anyone else as Thor, instead of Chris Hemsworth, these early concept arts are still very much Thor Odinson. This was not the first image shared by Wen, as on June 25, he first shared an early concept, as the very first Thor he had ever imagined. It was reportedly right after Iron Man 1, when he developed the fantasy look of the Thor with Celtic knotting and interweaving shapes, as reported by Comic Book.
#throwbackthursday …is that a thing?
Well, either way, here’s a throwback to the very first #thor I had done. It was at Marvel Studio’s infancy, directly after Iron Man 1 — I had a meeting the next morning with Kevin Feige to talk about designing a Marvel Cinematic Univer pic.twitter.com/k0FD3DJ3NT— Charlie Wen (@imcharliewen) June 25, 2020
Back in 2008, it was reported that McKidd was also in the running for Thor, along with Chris Hemsworth, Channing Tatum, Charlie Hunnam and Chri’s own brother Liam Hemsworth. Although McKidd did not get to play Thor, he did end up playing a god in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” as Poseidon. Not to forget, he has also become a permanent fixture in the entertainment industry with his ongoing role in “Grey’s Anatomy.”
