Elizabeth Moss Lands A New Show – ‘Shining Girls’ in Apple TV+
Elizabeth Moss is all set to star and executive produced the new series “Shining Girls,” in the Apple TV+, which will also be co-produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions.
“Shining Girls” is a series based on the 2013 novel by Lauren Beukes of the same name, in which Moss will play the role of a Chicago reporter who was brutally assaulted. The story revolves around her search for the attackers, while finding that her reality is changing.
Silka Luisa will be the showrunner of the new series, which is expected to be set during the Depression-era Chicago, just like the novel. As per novel, Harper Curtis finds a portal to different time periods, stalks women throughout time to kill them, except the one who survives Kirby Mazrachi, as reported by Cinemablend.
Although it has been widely thought that Moss will be playing the role of Mazarachi, there isn’t any official confirmation from the production company or Moss herself. There is also no other information regarding other members casting.
The new series will be a part of the extensive list of Apple TV+’s original programming, as the streaming service has been expanding its library with new shows like Chris Evans’ Defending Jacob, the Jennifer Aniston-Reese Witherspoon series The Morning Show, and Hailee Steinfeld’s Dickinson, among several others.
However, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the related delays and lockdowns, it will probably be a while before we get any further news about the upcoming “Shining Girls.”
As for Moss, she will be returning as Offred in the Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale’s” fourth installment, scheduled for a 2021 premiere. It was reported that the Season 4 filming was in the very early stages, when the nation-wide shutdown of production came into force. With all the ongoing restrictions, it is not yet clear as to when the cast and crew will get back to the sets.
