Indian Home Minister Amit Shah Hospitalized For Positive Coronavirus Test

Amit Shah, Indian Home Minister, has tested positive for coronavirus, on Sunday afternoon, August 2, 2020 and has been hospitalized, as per the advice by doctors.

The Minister has personally requested everyone, who had been in contact with him, in the past few days, to isolate themselves and get tested as early as possible.

“On getting the initial symptoms of corona, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors,” tweeted Shah, on his official Twitter Handle. “I request that all of you who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get your inquiry done”

As per the sources of NDTV, Shah has been admitted to Medanta hospital, located in Haryana’s Gurugram near Delhi. Extensive contact tracing is being carried out, as the Minister has been a part of the cabinet meeting, held a few days ago.

According to the news agency ANI, a team of doctors led by the AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria, will likely visit Mr. Shah at the Medanta Hospital.

He also welcomed the first batch of Rafales that arrived this week, apart from being a very active in all the pandemic related measures taken by the country so far.

Earlier today, Uttar Pradesh Minister Kamal Rani Varun died at Lucknow’s Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, from COVID-19, after being hospitalized for two weeks.

Tamil Nadu’s Governor Banwarilal Purohit has also tested positive, and is admitted at Chennai’s Kauvery Hospital. Mr. Purohit is asymptomatic and clinically stable. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tested positive for the virus, and has been hospitalized for the last nine days.
