The Boys Season 2: X-Men’s Shawn Ashmore Joins As LampLighter
When “The Boys” returns this September, “X-Men” star Shawn Ashmore will join the Season 2 cast, as LampLighter, an original member of the seven.
Amazon Prime has just released the first look of Ashmore as LampLighter, who is all about fire, in the Seven headquarters holding a lighter, although the context of the still is unclear. With his entry, “The Boys” will likely dredge up painful memories of their history.
“We were thrilled that Shawn — who is, let’s be honest, an OG superhero — wanted to play the crucial part of Lamplighter,” showrunner Eric Kripke said in a statement. “He brings so much depth, menace, and world-weary humanity to this former member of the Seven. And Shawn is a really good guy. We’re grateful to have him join our bloody little family.”
LampLighter, who maintains the power of pyrokinesis that he wields through his staff, had retired under mysterious circumstances, paving way for Starlight (Erin Moriarty) to join the team. He actually ties in directly to the Boys’ tragic history as he is real reason for their break up eight years ago. So, his entry kind of pokes at their raw nerves and is said to change everything, according the official synopsis.
“The Boys” Season 2 will premiere on Friday, September 4 with the first three episodes, followed by weekly installments to be released every Friday, before “an epic season finale” on October. 9.
