Tom Cruise As Iron Man From Another Universe In MCU?
It seems that Tom Cruise will finally debut as the fan-favorite superhero – Tony Stark / Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans had to bid a tearful goodbye to Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark in the “Avengers: Endgame” after seeing him play the role for more than a decade. And now, the role is likely to go back to the actor, who was the initial choice for the character – Tom Cruise.
According to a report in Koimoi, which has stated Patreon’s trusted insider as the source, Cruise will be hired by the Marvel Studios to play Iron Man aka Tony Stark, from another Earth, who will be featured in the upcoming MCU movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
“They are considering a bunch of interesting cameos for Strange to play different versions of character we know. One example I heard of they are considering is Tom Cruise as Tony Stark from another Earth,” as per the source.
It is no news to die-hard Iron Man fans, as there have been talks about Tom Cruise playing the role since the very first “Iron Man” movie. The rumor mill went on a spree with the fate of the superhero in the “Endgame” movie.
While there are fans who would love to see the MI star take up the role, Downey Jr., fans are yet to make peace with any other actor taking up the role. After all, it’s pretty hard to imagine anyone else behind the Iron Man suit, as Downey’s face has been kind of imprinted in our minds.
However, there has been no official statement from the Marvel Studios, as of now, so it’s better to take the news with a grain of salt.
As for Tom Cruise, the star is currently working on the seventh movie of his most popular franchise – “Mission: Impossible,” in the United Kingdom. Fans have been receiving behind-the-scenes pictures from the filming locations.
